A NOTE FROM THE THERAPIST

About Joanne

I’m Joanne, a qualified somatologist with more than ten years of experience working in salons, luxury spas and international wellness environments.

Throughout my career I’ve had the opportunity to work with thousands of different skin types, concerns and skincare routines. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that healthy skin rarely comes from complicated routines or expensive products.

It comes from understanding your skin.

This website exists to share honest skincare education and practical guidance from inside the treatment room.

My Journey In Skincare

My career in skincare began in Johannesburg where I studied somatology at Hydro International College. During my studies I completed both the CIDESCO International Diploma and the SAAHSP National Diploma, graduating as one of the top students at the college at the time.

Over the years that followed, I worked in a variety of professional environments, from small salon settings to luxury five-star spas. Each setting allowed me to gain deeper insight into how skin behaves under different conditions and lifestyles.

I also spent time working on cruise ships in the Caribbean, where I worked as an aesthetician helping guests address a wide variety of skin concerns while travelling in different climates.

Later I managed a boutique spa in the Seychelles, where I was responsible not only for treatments but also for the daily operations of the spa. At another stage in my career I also owned and operated my own salon, working both as therapist and business owner.

Each experience contributed to my understanding of skin, people and the importance of honest guidance.

My Philosophy About Skin

The skincare industry has changed dramatically over the past decade. New treatments, devices and product launches appear constantly, often promising quick transformations.

While technology certainly has a place, my experience as a therapist has taught me that most people don’t need complicated routines or ten different products layered on their skin.

Healthy skin begins with understanding.

Understanding your skin type.

Understanding what your skin is trying to communicate.

Understanding which products support your skin and which ones may be unnecessary.

My approach has always been skin-first education. When people understand their skin, they make better decisions and develop routines that are simple, sustainable and effective.

Why I Created This Platform

Why I Created This Platform

For many years the knowledge shared inside treatment rooms stayed within those walls.

This platform exists to bring that knowledge into the open.

Here you’ll find articles, insights and guidance drawn from real experience in the skincare industry, not from trends or marketing promises.

My hope is that this website helps people feel more confident about their skin, simplifies skincare routines and provides a place where honest skincare education can be shared.

A Personal Note

Whether you’re here to learn more about your skin, simplify your routine, or simply become more informed about skincare, you’re very welcome here.

If you ever feel unsure about your skin or would like more personalised guidance, you’re also welcome to book a personal skin consultation where we can discuss your skin and routine together.
